During wwii, the nazi party encouraged prejudice and discrimination against jews and other "undesirables." They wanted to get rid of all the jews and "undesirables" and they decided setting up extermination camps like auschwitz was the best way to do it. at the end of the holocaust, they had murdered a total of about 11 million people.
